Summarization

Summerization is an essential step in preparing your boat for the upcoming boating season after months of winter storage. At NorthShore Dock & Marine, our professional boat summerization service ensures your inboard, sterndrive, or personal watercraft (PWC) is thoroughly inspected and ready for reliable performance on the water. Our technicians carefully review critical engine, electrical, and fuel systems to make sure everything is operating safely and efficiently before the season begins.

What Is Included In Summerization

Battery & Electrical Battery:  The battery is charged and tested to ensure it is holding proper voltage and ready for reliable operation. Battery cables are inspected for corrosion, damage, or loose connections. Engine belts are examined for wear, cracking, or improper tension, and the blower motor is tested to confirm proper ventilation of the engine compartment. Power steering fluid is also checked on stern drive systems to verify proper fluid levels and ensure smooth steering performance.

Engine & Drive Fluids
Fluid levels and condition are carefully checked across all critical systems. Drive oil is inspected to verify proper fluid level on stern drive systems, while engine oil is checked to confirm both the level and overall condition. Hydraulic fluid levels are also verified for stern drive systems to ensure proper operation of steering and trim components. For inboard vessels, transmission fluid is inspected to confirm correct level and condition. The water-separating fuel filter is examined to ensure it is clean and functioning properly, helping protect the engine from contaminants and moisture in the fuel system.

Systems & Safety Bilge Pump:
The flame arrestor is inspected to ensure it is clean, properly installed, and functioning as intended. All hoses are carefully examined for wear, cracks, or loose connections and tightened as necessary to maintain secure and reliable operation. The engine is then run on a hose to verify proper running condition at low RPMs, allowing technicians to confirm stable operation and identify any potential issues before the vessel returns to service.

Gauges
All key engine gauges are checked to verify proper operation and accurate readings. This includes confirming the function and display of the oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, fuel gauge, and voltage gauge to ensure the vessel’s monitoring systems are working correctly and providing reliable information during operation.
